    1. Visceral Leishmaniasis (VL, kala-azar) and Post-Kala-Azar Dermal Leishmaniasis (PKDL):
      • epidemiology, entomology, clinical features, pathophysiology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment and control
    1. Intoxications and poisoning
      • Macro – industrial and natural disasters (Bhopal, Seveso, Nigeria oil spillage, Tsjernobyl, etc), biological war agents (e.g. anthrax)
      • Micro – chemical poisons, naturally occurring poisons, animal poisons (e.g. fish), exposure to entheogens, homicidal and suicidal poisoning; exposure to lead, Mg, Hg, CO, softenon, substance abuse, domestic smoke, aflatoxin, methanol, pesticides, etc
    2. Introduction to non-communicable diseases (NCDs): a case -based approach
      • Heart failure, asthma/COPD, hypertension, diabetes mellitus
      • Cancer: by contagion, microbe-induced, etc; common cancers in low-resource settings
      • Vitamin deficiencies
      • Occupational disease
      • Sickle cell anaemia
      • Pancytopenia
      • Rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease
      • Paraplegia, etc
