Visit Divine Love Hospital, Bibiani, Ghana
This was a visit for PUM (Professional People for Positive Impact), the Netherlands.
The emphasis of this visit is on nursing care, specifically aiming to improve clinical excellence and the overall quality of care delivered by the nursing team.
Patients at Divine Love Hospital (DLH) consistently recognize the commitment, compassion, and time the nursing staff dedicates to their care. This patient-centered approach is highly appreciated and plays a significant role in patient retention and loyalty.
To build on this strength and further improve the quality of nursing care, a structured implementation plan has been developed for the Nursing Manager. The plan aims to translate the knowledge and training provided during the recent visit into practical, sustainable improvements in clinical care.
While the project poses certain challenges—especially given limited resources and staffing continuity—it is essential that the Nursing Manager and nursing team take the lead in driving the proposed changes. These include:
- Implementing standardized wound care procedures across all wards
- Introducing pain assessment protocols in the adult wards
- Establishing age-appropriate pain assessment methods in the pediatric ward
- Strengthening hygiene and infection prevention practices for both staff and clients
Sustained attention to these areas will help raise the standard of care and support DLH in achieving its mission of clinical excellence.
